Anil oversees TGMDC’s efforts to boost Telangana’s economy through mineral exploration and extraction. The corporation’s activities include mining sand, granite, and other minerals, which contribute significantly to state revenues through royalties and taxes.
During the Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022, Anil, alongside Congress leader Poonam Kaur Lal, met with Rahul Gandhi to discuss the challenges faced by handloom weavers. He highlighted their economic struggles and advocated for a waiver of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on handloom products to reduce the tax burden on weavers. This was aimed at making handloom products more affordable and supporting weavers’ livelihoods.
supports the creation of a dedicated Gulf Workers’ Welfare Board, a flagship initiative mandated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to address the challenges faced by approximately 15 lakh Telangana workers in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The board aims to provide comprehensive support, including protections against exploitation, legal aid, and welfare programs.
Anil Eravathri personally visited labor camps in Dubai to investigate the working and living conditions of Telangana’s Gulf workers, as he stated, “Even now, I have come to Dubai to see the difficulties faced by Gulf labor workers in the camps… to personally inquire about and understand their struggles.” This hands-on approach informs his advocacy within the NRI Advisory Committee and his discussions with CM Revanth Reddy.
Anil actively participated in the Akhila Bharata Padmashali Maha Sabha, a significant gathering of the Padmashali community, to raise their concerns directly with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He thanked the CM for canceling a Delhi trip to attend the event, indicating the importance of this platform for addressing weaver issues. Anil highlighted the socio-economic struggles of Padmashalis to CM Revanth Reddy, noting that 85-90% have left handloom weaving, with only 10-15% continuing. This echoes his 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra push for a GST waiver on handloom products.
